Challenges
The client was looking to improve the efficiency of their mine planning department as fundamental processes, KPIs and routines were missing.
Task
To come up with a set of standards governing each planning process; start and ends, inputs and outputs as well as routines to align each deliverable.
Our Approach
What did we do?
A+I established a process to standardize hand-off process(es) and metrics for each planning process, i.e. Long Range Planning - LOMP to Monthly to Weekly to Daily. Set a standard process to Tie Forecast to each planning cycle (Weekly, Daily and Short interval control). We improved information sharing and communication between geology, planning, and operations.
Result
What did we achieve?
Forecasting deliverability improved from 0% (from the last 34 months) to 85% (every month) over a year. Weekly compliance improved by 65%, from 15% to 80%. Additionally, reporting accuracy increased by 70% through digital reporting solutions. It also achieved one-touch reporting (eliminating multiple creation of reports required by different people within the organization for their needs).
