Digitalization is sweeping the mining industry, with advancements in every aspect of the mining

processes, from Drilling/Loading, Mucking, Trucking to Collision Avoidance and Emergency

Evacuation. This paper addresses how Hudbay’s Lalor mine has improved stability and pushed the

capability of their operations while exceeding safety standards. Implementing new technologies and

improved methodologies often presents the hope of great opportunity but does not come without its

challenges. At Lalor mine, the Mobilaris system was used in combination with a Short Interval

Control (SIC) process to enable the mine to identify areas of opportunities and wasted efforts, so

they may be explored, and eliminated or repeated where applicable through Kaizen Improvement

process. In addition to the gains in production, the challenges associated with change management

will also be presented as well as how these challenges were overcome to deliver tangible gains.
